Jan Schneider
                                                                  Assistant Principal

Hello! My name is Jan Schneider and I am proud to be the Assistant Principal at High Plains Elementary school.
In 1985 I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Oregon State University. My interests in science and constructivist thinking led me to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching Integrated Sciences from Colorado College. I received my principal licensure after completing a Masters in Leadership in 2008 from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
I began my teaching career in Worland, Wyoming. Marriage then took me to Corona, California where I continued teaching. My husband and I chose to move to Colorado Springs in 1992 because we love this area and knew that it would be a terrific place to raise our children. I taught in Fountain, CO during their preschool years and then in District 11 as they matured. I most recently served seven years as a Literacy Resource Teacher to lead teachers in professional development, instructional coaching, and data analysis.
My husband and I have two wonderful daughters. Our eldest is a junior in Business Administration at Colorado State University. Our second daughter is a junior at Coronado High School. I enjoy walking our dog Flash. I love reading, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
I am very excited to work together with the welcoming High Plains community, and look forward to getting to know all of the students!
