 About Me

Hi! My name is Ms. Lane and I have been in public education for over 18 years.  I am very excited to be at High Plains Elementary School! I recently relocated to Colorado Springs from the Woodland Park area, and I am very excited to be a part of the High Plains Community.  I have three children of my own, all of whom are adults and live in the Colorado Springs area.  As a parent, I understand the importance of communication with students and their families.  I believe that all students can learn and achieve high expectations, if taught the way they learn best.  I incorporate a variety of teaching modalities in the classroom and love "hands on" learning activities. I also use Mindfulness in the classroom, and challenge students to use a growth mindset to overcome the hurdles in life.  I believe with hard work and perseverance, all students can excel and create the life they have always imagined.

I consider myself a lifelong learner and enjoy a variety of interests and hobbies.  I also enjoy traveling abroad and learning about different cultures.  I spend my free time reading, writing, painting, hiking, mountain biking, weightlifting, and playing with our Chocolate Labrador, Annabell, and our little Shitzu, Simba.  One of my greatest passions is music.  I have played the piano for 40 years, and spent 8 years teaching piano lessons.  I also play percussion instruments, including drums, Djembe, and tambourine.  I love share the gift of music with my students!  Many of my lessons incorporate music.  In addition, I use music to set the tone of the classroom, from mellow music for writing, to upbeat music for brain breaks, our third grade classroom truly rocks!

My husband and I are both teachers and enjoy the enthusisasm and energy that come from working with our students.  We believe in living a balanced life, and do our best to live our lives in the present moment, aware, curious, and always learning!
